1) The four basic texts in use by the Hindus are the vedas; rig-veda, sama-veda, yajur-veda, and atharva-veda. The Rig-Veda, which has 1,028 hymns, is for recitation of the knowledge of the hymns of praise. Sama-Veda, which consists of 1,549 verses, is for chanting the knowledge of melodies. Yajur-Veda, which contains 1,875 verses, is for liturgy of the sacrificial formulas. Atharva-Veda, which has 730 hymns, is named after a group of priests for the knowledge of the magic formulas.
The practice of indulgences is basically when a person pays the Catholic Church to receive a release or exempt the punishment for a sin they committed. I think this made Martin Luther object to indulgences because he believed it was was not right to promise the exemption of souls from sin based on just a transfer of money. He also felt that the pope didn't have the right to act on God's behalf by granting a pardon from God. My research led to this website on Martin Luther and indulgences: http://courses.wcupa.edu/jones/his101/web/37luther.htm
3) The Hajj is the fifth pilar of Islam. It is a religious task that all Muslims should accomplish in their lives if they are physically able to. It is both an understanding and personal experience. The Hajj has many steps and begins on the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
